The data represent dumps of the phase space coordinates of the particles at constant time of a simulation employing 512^3 particles in a periodic volume. The initial conditions were generated by displacing particles from a regular grid using the Zel'dovich approximation. The transfer function was taken to be the fit of Eisenstein & Hu with the baryon oscillations `smoothed' over.
For each output I ran a FoF group finder with a linking length of 0.15 times the mean interparticle spacing. All groups with fewer than 8 particles were assigned to the special group "0" which stands for "not in a group". Other groups were numbered from 1 to N with no particular correlation between group number and number of members.
Information on the file formats, endian conversions etc can be found in the AAREADME files in each subdirectory.
